Virgin Media HD

Telewest and NTL recently merged and became Virgin Media. Under the branding of this new entity they are the first quadruple-play media company in the UK, offering a four way service of internet, mobile phone, television and land-line phone. The kind of purchasing power this represents should ensure lots of high quality programming to come but presently HD content is a bit thin on the ground. They are currently offering some HDTV programming via their reasonably priced V+ package, this is delivered to your home via cable.

To receive V+ broadcasting you need the following:

  • a V+ subscription
  • an HD set-top box, or a V+ set top box
  • an HD ready TV (if this has an HD tuner installed you will not need another set-top box)

Virgin Media HD starts from just £10 a month with a £25 installation fee, this is £75 including their box.

Have a look for yourself at what Virgin HD has to offer.
