Sky HD

Sky was the very first UK provider to confirm its intention to launch HD and it went live in May 2006. Sky offers a generous selection of HD content over 9 channels with a mixture of movies, sport and nature documentaries. Several hit TV shows are available in HD like Lost and the new series of 24 - series 6. Sky will also be showing HD content from third party providers such as Discovery HD and the National Geographic channel. Sky has already been filming sporting events and regular games in high definition for quite a while. Their stylish set-top box is compulsory for subscription comes with 160 GB of storage.

To receive Sky HD you need the following:

• a Sky HD subscription
• a SKY Satellite dish
• a Sky HD set-top box
• an HD ready TV

A Sky HD set-top box costs £299, installation is £60 and a monthly HD subscription costs £10 in addition to any other Sky subscription packages.
